Frequently Asked Questions

Calibrate if:

-An ADAS sensor or module was replaced.

-An ADAS sensor or its mounting was removed and replaced.

-There was an impact near the sensor.

-An ADAS sensor mounting area has been changed (body or frame repair, new bumper, removed module mounting bracket, removed windshield, removed door, removed mirror etc.)

-There is a fault code or warning light for an ADAS system.

-A manufacturer requires it per a position statement.

Vehicles that need the rear bumper off for blindspot calibration:

- Hyundai

- Kia

- Honda

- Acura

- Nissan

These vehicles have the blindspots mounted to the quarter panels and the calibration requires attaching an aiming device directly to the module. Hyundai and Kia do have some models where the blindspots are mounted in the bumper cover. For those uncommon cases install the bumper before calibration.

-Have the vehicle fully assembled (with exceptions for some blindspot calibrations, see above section).

-Have alignment already completed if needed.

-Reducing comebacks

-Eliminating unnecessary repairs

Why are adas calibrations important?

When an ADAS component is affected by a collision it must be aimed. This process both corrects the alignment of the system and tests that it is working correctly. When systems are not calibrated correctly vehicles can fail to steer or brake when obstacles are detected or falsely detect obstacles. Calibrating these systems resets the learned angles as well as distance. A test drive or clearing faults alone cannot determine if an ADAS system is functioning correctly.
